Isn't it amazing how kids grow up? Axel has really grown... He loves to clap and make noise - he says all sorts of sounds like da, ma, na, gu... He's learning to kick toys along the ground, and is becoming fascinated by Savannah.

Back in April, one of my sisters had her new baby, Viara. I was so excited to be able to make the blessing dress!

I've jumped back into the sewing game!! I found this skirt pattern and thought i'd give it a go... It went surprisingly fast!

This was my donation to Festival of Trees 2010. I sewed the table runner with Moda's Adoring fabrics, the lantern is from our wedding, and I crocheted the 'JOY' doily! It was exciting to be able to create something for such a good cause!

Isn't my child just the cutest thing??? He's fantastic - walking around, running around! I love watching him wander around the house, picking up toys, dropping them for another one, then sprawling out on his tummy to hit said toy against the floor...

The last weekend in July, my dad's side goes camping all together. Nate and i went the whole weekend, while Axel stayed with Grandma and Grandpa King. It was a beautiful trip, and was a nice getaway for the two of us.

Aaron did a race called 'Hurt in the Dirt' a few weeks ago. It was so intense to watch! It is made up of 2 4-mile legs running and 2 10-mile legs biking. He did great! He took 9th overall, which is awesome because the racers could do it individually or in teams.

Nate's brother got married in June - it was awesome!

We've been trying to swim a lot this summer - my sisters have been in town the past couple weeks so we've been taking all the kids. This was Axel's first time - he had so much fun!

While my sisters were here we also went to Pineview... Axel didn't like the lake so much but we had a great time taking the other kids out on the raft.

We went to Gubby and Grandma's for the 24th of July. They set up a sprinkler for the kids to run around in. Axel was so excited to walk straight into the water! Uncle Adam was a great sport to follow him in.

Before everyone left town, we wanted to get family pictures. With 22 people to coordinate with, it was quite a feat! We even were able to manage a picture with my mom's whole side! While we were waiting for everyone to get there, Riley caught a grasshopper - all the kids were fascinated by it.

More swimming... He likes being able to float in his turtle and be free to kick around.

This week, we went to Thanksgiving Point's Farm for a few hours. The kids loved it! There was a pony ride (that Riley didn't want to miss, so he wouldn't get out of line, even though it was an hour long!), lots of animals to pet, and little museum exhibits.

Spring has sprung!! (finally!!) During the short sunny break we had back in March, Daxton and I took Savannah out to play in the yard - he was awesome at throwing the frisbee for her and practicing her fetching skills. He has a great arm!

Axel sure is growing up... He has started to take notice of his surroundings - Daddy's beard, his toys, and especially Savannah. She has become his favorite thing to look at - he will stare at her and just start laughing!

But he hasn't lost a bit of his flexiblity! Axel loves to suck on his toes, and anything else for that matter! He has reached the age where if it can get into his hands, it goes in his mouth. It's probably a good thing when it comes to eating... He loves green beans, hates carrots, and isn't sure yet about bananas.

Here are pictures of our Easter egg coloring party on the 3rd. We relocated from SLC to M&D's great room because of the freak snow storm. It was fun to get together with everyone!

Did you know that if you wrap your raw eggs in onion skins and boil them like that they look like this!? Also dyes the rest yellow, but it's a pretty cool effect!

The next day was my birthday!! Julia made this glorious cake for us. It was chocolate (with pudding mixed into the batter), buttercream frosting, and chocolate-covered strawberries on it. Absolutely delicious!

I guess we wore the poor kid right out! He was watching TV and playing, and the playing slowed, and the head bobbed, and plop. Fell asleep in his exersaucer. Too cute.

Axel has learned to pull the toys off the bar... The owl in the middle has velcro and he loves to yank it off. He's pretty proud when he can bring it to his mouth. :)

We finished our china hutch!! We found this for a killer deal on KSL and painted it. Nate did some awesome detail on it - he did an undercoat of green, and then sanded through the black to antique it. It turned out incredible!! Yes, the top door is missing - fixing the hinges on it before we attach it....

I FINISHED KNITTING MY FIRST SOCK!!!!! Yay me! Grandma started teaching Mom and I last year.... I did an inch of it, and got bored/lazy/overwhelmed, whatever you want to call it. I got it out last week and decided that i was going to finish it no matter what - so at least i could say that i did it once. Turns out that its not as difficult as i made it out to be! I've been to Grandma's house more this last week than i've been in a while, but it's been a great experience to work with her and get her instructions. Now to start the mate!

It must be the year for finishing things!! I also finished the afghan that I started two (?) years ago! It's motivating to see it done - and i've promptly started another one - but a different pattern. It's called filet crochet - the same idea as making doilies. Nate's Grandma does it and made a doily that says 'KING' on it for our wedding... So after the blanket i'll give that a go.

My little boy is growing up!! Everyday we see new things... he now can 'make the rounds' on his exersaucer - he moves around giving each toy his complete attention until its time to move on. (Except for the one that makes noises and plays songs - he comes back to that one over and over again...) He's doing it right now!

Yes- he's trying to read his bib... he does that every time i put one of those bibs on - he just wants to know what those words say!!

Axel has lots of fun eating his oatmeal! He does so well on some bites, but if he smiles at you, it all oozes out! He thinks its the funniest thing.

So now, after the sleepless nights (because he couldn't sleep on his back), and we get the pillow to fix the flat spot, he WANTS to be on his side! I put him down on Sunday for a nap, and a few minutes later, this is how i find him!! Crazy kid.... He slept like this for 4 hours...

Axel sure is growing! Now, at 4 1/2 months, he weighs 15 1/2 pounds!! He loves to watch his hands grab at things and each other (and whacking the raccoon hanging from his bouncer!) His smile is the cutest thing ever - it's a whole-body experience! It starts in the corner of his mouth, then his mouth opens wide and scrunches his eyes, and then he stretches out... its so adorable! Clothes are getting hard - he's a tall skinny baby - we try on the pants that fit lengthwise and they're too big around the waist... He loves to have his clothes changed - try changing his onsie - he will put on a huge grin as you bring it up around his neck and then giggle when it goes over his head!

We went walking on Legacy Trail with Grandpa and Grandma King last week. Grandpa usually takes Savannah walking there (she loves to run back and forth thru the brush and jump over the little canal) so we all decided to go together. Axel enjoyed it until he fell asleep, but it was a gorgeous evening. Here are some of the pictures we snapped with our new camera :)

Well he came!!! :) Axel Vernon King was born on October 12, 2009 at 7:11 pm. He was 7 lbs 8 oz and was 20 inches long. The birth was a lot easier than i expected! I started labor the night before, but i wasn't sure it was real. My doctor told me that if i felt like i was in labor and he was at the clinic, to come see him there first, so we did! Nate and i headed up there and Doc said that i was dilated to a 4 1/2, and that he wouldn't wait more than a few hours to get to the hospital. :) we were excited! We 'leisurely' made our way to the hospital, and checked in about 12:30. It was pretty funny because Aaron was the doctor on call at the hospital that day, so he came and sat with us for a while, making sure we were taken care of. At about 2, i was dilated to a 7, and got my epidural. THAT WAS THE GREATEST INVENTION EVER! The last hour had been pretty miserable, and within 5 minutes i was giggly! The next couple hours passed fast, and soon my doctor was there! I pushed, and in between pushes Nate and I were getting more and more excited! I really can't believe how fast it all went! I tore really bad, but luckily i didn't feel it... But overall, everything went great!!
Now, at almost 3 weeks old, he weighs 8 lbs 2 oz and is 21 inches long! He's such a wonderful baby! He sleeps well, and eats a lot! He has the cutest moments when after he's eaten, he'll just sit there and look at you... I love his eyes! And Nate is an awesome dad! He takes the night shift so i can sleep... its great to see him love being with his son. I LOVE MY FAMILY!!

Wow. Its been a long time. We've just been preparing for this baby to come, which, according to my doctor, could be any day now!!! CRAZY! I went it two weeks ago, and he said i was 80% effaced and at least 2 cm dilated... He took me off work for a week so i would make it full term, and now we're just waiting. In his words - "work hard now to encourage him to come out by himself." Ha ha ha so we've been moving stuff around, painting the nursery, cleaning carpets, and all sorts of organizing and cleaning. I started making the baby bedding the other day - i have 4 of the 6 bumper pads made and I'll finish those this weekend, along with the bed skirt and window treatment. Nate has started hanging shelves in the nursery and has been such a good sport about moving the things i need moved, and helping me with all the home improvement and cleaning without complaining. :) I love that man!
I've had two showers - one with my side of the family and one with my ward. I am so grateful for how many people came! After coming home from the second one, i just sat on the living room floor with all the gifts and tried to show Nate everything - i was so stunned by how much there was.... Tomorrow I have one last shower with Nate's side of the family. After that, we just have a few last things to buy and put in the nursery and we'll be ready!
Poor Savannah has been wandering the house with a worried look in her eye... She thinks we're moving again and it's making her nervous. The other night, we had just finished moving stuff into the nursery and were sitting in there enjoying it, and she was standing outside the door. We called her in and she was so excited to be able to come in with us but she wouldn't stay in there - she knows an even bigger change is coming soon and she doesn't know what it is.... ha ha ha she'll be great with our little man though.

IT'S A BOY!!

Wow.... So we're having a boy! What a change of mindset... We had our 'offical' ultrasound on June22nd, and the tech gave us plenty of proof - she says there's no doubt! ha ha ha She gave us a DVD of the ultrasound, and i just watch it over and over and over again in awe of how incredible it is to be able to watch him move.... He was quite the wiggler the whole time, and he proved that he was a King boy (not that there was any doubt ha ha ha) because at the end he turned his back to the ultrasound and wouldn't turn over no matter what we did.... It was so funny! We were poking and prodding him but he decided he was done putting on a show and didn't want to do what he was told.
I can feel him moving a lot, but the past couple of days he's been kicking harder and harder! Nate is always stunned when he can feel it so strongly... It's been entertaining to just sit and feel him move. Everything seems to be going well - he's healthy and the measurements look good. The due date is staying the same for now - Oct. 27th. We are so excited!!!!!

The King's are pregnant!!

Well i guess the title says it all... The King family is going to have a baby! He/She is due end of October - they haven't given me an exact due date but i'm saying October 26th. We are both really excited!! We haven't had to get busy preparing yet but it's definately on our minds... There's furniture to buy and move and other preparations to make but all in due time. :)
I'm starting to show! My clothes still fit but they're getting uncomfortable so it must be about time to go buy a BellaBand and maybe some maternity clothes.... Thankfully Kathrine loaned me hers so i won't have to buy as much.
I'll keep updating as things happen... In a few weeks we'll find out the gender - Aaron did an ultrasound on April 20th (at wk 12) and his guess is a girl, but he wasn't sure. But we'll have another ultrasound in a week or two and then we should be able to tell. Wahoo!!
